The Youngstown State men’s tennis team opened their fall tournament season on a strong note winning the doubles title and two of three singles draws as action concluded on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.<\/p>\n
Winning singles draws were Alexis Maulouet<\/a> (A draw) and Alex Woiten<\/a> (C draw) while Rafael Le Fur<\/a> and Maulouet collected a hard-fought doubles crown.<\/p>\n To claim the A draw title, Maulouet went 3-0 in the event. He capped off the title with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 win over Xavier’s Alexander Kotarski on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n To claim the C draw title, Woiten had to win a pair of matches on Sunday taking down a pair of Cast Western players. In the finals, he beat Shay Gupta by a 7-6 (0), 6-4 score.<\/p>\n In doubles, Maulouet and Le Fur were a perfect 4-0 for the event. After winning twice on Saturday, the duo won two more matches on Sunday.<\/p>\n In the final against Kotarski and Nick Herdoiza of Xavier, the contest went to a tiebreaker. At 7-6, the Musketeers fought off a match point. The Penguins regrouped in the tiebreaker scoring four straight points after the set was tied 1-1.
