The discussion followed Celtic\u2019s recent domestic fixtures and the ongoing scrutiny over their European squad and recruitment strategy.<\/a><\/p>\n

Rodgers<\/a> has been vocal about the need for reinforcements, pointing out gaps in his side despite the money already spent. The Celtic manager has spoken in recent weeks about frustrations with the club\u2019s transfer model and the timing of deals, sparking questions about alignment between him and the board.<\/p>\n

Boyd seized on those frustrations during the panel debate, arguing that Rodgers<\/a>\u2019 long-term commitment remains in doubt and therefore the board is right to hold back from giving him significant funds. \u201cOnce again the \u00a311million man (Arne Engels) of last summer is on the bench, not even coming on today, the \u00a33.5million Paulo Bernardo has not been seen either\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Sutton<\/a> responded: \u201cYou are wheeling out the same rhetoric. We are talking about this season and Celtic\u2019s inability to replace the quality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boyd countered: \u201cWhy would you give someone a fortune if he is saying he is going to leave?\u201d<\/p>\n

Sutton<\/a> replied: \u201cThe model is the model.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boyd argued: \u201cHe is telling you the model isn\u2019t working. If he is saying it\u2019s not aligning with the football club\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Sutton<\/a> insisted: \u201cBut the football club aside from that should always be looking to recruit. They have their own recruitment department.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boyd continued: \u201cWhy would they give someone who has spent an absolute fortune, is potentially going to leave more money to spend?<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he then spits the dummy out, leaving the players they have signed out of the European squad?\u201d<\/p>\n

Sutton<\/a> challenged: \u201cHow do you know that is spitting the dummy out?\u201d<\/p>\n

Boyd pressed further: \u201cWhy would you bring in Yamada at Ibrox and now he has been left out of the European squad? Johnny Kenny is nowhere to be seen, now he is in the European squad?\u201d<\/p>\n

The fiery exchange highlights the ongoing split in opinion over Celtic\u2019s board and Rodgers<\/a>\u2019 management. Boyd continues to insist that the club cannot throw money at a manager whose future is uncertain, pointing to expensive signings who are barely being used.<\/p>\n

Sutton<\/a>, on the other hand, believes that the underlying problem is Celtic\u2019s failure to replace quality with quality, and that the recruitment department should be accountable regardless of Rodgers<\/a>\u2019 contract situation.<\/p>\n
