\u201cThe focus here should be on identifying your most essential costs, managing those and looking to remove all nonessential spending,\u201d said Julie Guntrip, head of financial wellness at Jenius Bank<\/a>. \u201cIn addition, you would want to avoid accumulating high-interest debt, given that repayment could be challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n

When you achieve a net worth between $10,000 and $100,000, you\u2019re now at level two. At this level, everyday expenditures like groceries no longer derail your budget<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe priority is building a values-based budget, paying down high-interest debt and starting an emergency fund with consistent contributions to a high-yield savings account to take advantage of compound interest,\u201d Guntrip said.<\/p>\n

As you reach a net worth between $100,000 and $1 million, it\u2019s assumed you can enjoy dining out without financial anxiety.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a good opportunity to start investing wisely, expanding retirement and other long-term savings, and avoiding lifestyle creep by keeping spending aligned with your values and goals,\u201d Guntrip said.<\/p>\n

The \u201ctravel freedom\u201d level \u2014 achieved by those with a net worth between $1 million and $10 million \u2014 refers to the idea that, at this net worth, you could travel on your own terms without added stress.<\/p>\n

\u201cClimbing this rung involves optimizing income, maximizing tax-advantaged accounts and diversifying investments,\u201d Guntrip said. \u201cIt also involves having a \u2018splurge fund\u2019 for fun expenses, like travel, that are above your typical spending and saving budget allocations.\u201d<\/p>\n

At level five, you have a net worth between $10 million and $100 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cLevel five may bring the ability to purchase your ideal home without sacrificing other goals,\u201d Guntrip said. \u201cOf course, depending on where you live in the country, the definition and price tag of an \u2018ideal\u2019 home may vary.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once you have secured your home \u2014 and likely other valuable assets \u2014 your focus should be on securing generational wealth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis includes protecting your interests and your loved ones through smart estate planning,\u201d Guntrip said.<\/p>\n

At the final level, you\u2019ve reached an above-$100-million net worth. This can allow you to make a significant impact on others\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis level is about aligning wealth with legacy, whether through community projects, scholarships or supporting meaningful causes,\u201d Guntrip said.<\/p>\n

As you climb up the wealth ladder, it\u2019s important to stay true to yourself and what\u2019s important to you.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter your rung, the key is to let your core financial values guide you,\u201d Guntrip said. \u201cClimbing the wealth ladder isn\u2019t just about building net worth \u2014 it\u2019s about creating stability, confidence and a life that\u2019s in line with what matters most to you.\u201d<\/p>\n
