Scoring<\/a> \/\/\/ Sun Devil All-Time Team Titles<\/a><\/p>\n

The Sun Devil men’s team \u2013 fresh off a solid win at the Sahalee Players Championship Sept. 6-7 \u2013 heads to Utah for the Wohali Classic on Sept 15-16, then quickly move on to Olympia Fields for the Illini Invitational Sept. 19-21. The Wohali Classic is a 14-team tournament hosted by Utah with ASU, BYU, Cal Poly, Colorado State, Georgia Southern, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oregon State, San Diego, San Diego State, Tarleton State, UCLA and UNLV. It is played at the Wohali Course (par 71\/7,873 yards) in Coalville.<\/p>\n

First impression was good
The Sun Devil Men’s Golf team lost two of the best four-year players in school history in All-Americans Preston Summerhays<\/a> and 2024 U.S. Amateur champion Josele Ballester<\/a>. That duo had ASU “in the hunt” for much since fall of 2021, including solid shots at a NCAA title and always in the top ten of the rankings. The first tournament of the 2025-26 season was in Seattle, where Summerhays won the event in fall of 2023 and Ballester led ASU to the team title last year. Senior All-American Michael Mjaaseth<\/a> showed he is ready to lead the Sun Devils to continued great heights. Mjaaseth notched a birdie on the final hole to secure ASU’s team win at the Sahalee Players Championship, as the Sun Devils outlasted preseason No. 3-ranked Texas by one stroke to take the trophy in the 12-team event. Mjaaseth tied for fourth with a 1-under 215 (69-72-74), his eleventh top-10 finish in his career.<\/p>\n

Here are our swingers
In the newly-formed Wohali Classic, ASU will be led by Michael Mjaaseth<\/a>, Fifa Laopakdee<\/a>, Connor Williams<\/a>, Bowen Mauss<\/a> and Boston Bracken<\/a>. Peer Wernicke<\/a> and Kent Karlstrom<\/a> are competing on the same days at the Soldier Hollow Invitational. It will represent somewhat of a homecoming for two Sun Devil freshman, as Bowen Mauss<\/a>\u00a0(Draper) and\u00a0Boston Bracken<\/a>\u00a0(St. George) are from the Beehive State.<\/p>\n
