Ellen DeGeneres<\/a> is facing a new lawsuit after a woman claimed that the former talk show host ignored a stop sign while driving in Santa Barbara County, Calif., nearly two years ago and \u201ct-boned\u201d her car.<\/p>\n

According to the lawsuit, viewed by People<\/a>, the woman claims that DeGeneres, 67, \u201centered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawsuit says the intersection where the incident occurred on Oct. 16, 2023 \u201cis controlled by stop signs in all directions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The plaintiff claims that she stopped for her stop sign and \u201cmade sure there were no other vehicles\u201d present before continuing to drive forward. But she claimed that DeGeneres \u201csuddenly and without any warning\u201d collided with her car and \u201ct-boned\u201d her vehicle, which resulted in injuries to the plaintiff.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit also accuses DeGeneres of exhibiting \u201cnegligent conduct (that) fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person,\u201d and alleges that the comedian \u201cnegligently caused, or contributed to causing plaintiff\u2019s vehicle to be collided with by the defendants\u2019 vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

The woman claims she has suffered \u201cmultiple serious personal injuries and damages\u201d as a result of the collision, along with wage loss, accrued hospital and medical expenses, \u201closs of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and anxiety.\u201d<\/p>\n

She is suing DeGeneres for general negligence and an undisclosed amount of compensatory damages.<\/p>\n

DeGeneres has not publicly addressed the allegations from the new lawsuit and was last seen on an Italian vacation with her wife, Portia de Rossi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit comes after DeGeneres confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump<\/a> is the reason she left the United States and moved to the U.K.<\/p>\n

In her first public appearance since leaving the U.S.<\/a> last year, DeGeneres was asked at a conversation event in July if the reports that she moved to the U.K. because of Trump, 79, were correct, and she simply said, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, \u2018He got in,’\u201d DeGeneres told broadcaster Richard Bacon in Cheltenham, England. \u201cAnd we\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019re staying here.’\u201d<\/p>\n

DeGeneres had nothing but good things to say about her new home in the aristocratic Cotswolds region, telling Bacon that life \u201cis just better\u201d in the U.K.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely beautiful,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture \u2014 everything you see is charming and it\u2019s just a simpler way of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clean. Everything here is just better. The way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeGeneres and de Rossi moved to England last November<\/a> after selling their home in Montecito, Calif., in August.<\/p>\n

At the time, The Wrap spoke to sources close to the comedian and the\u00a0Arrested Development star, who told the outlet the couple are\u00a0likely to \u201cnever\u201d return to the U.S.<\/a>\u00a0on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n
