HONOLULU, Hawaii. \u2014\u00a0Eastern Washington women’s soccer delivered a commanding performance on Sunday afternoon, cruising past Hawaii Pacific in a 3-0 shutout. The victory lifts the Eagles to 4-2-3 on the season.<\/p>\n
“We were happy with the bounce-back win,” said head coach Missy Strasburg<\/a>. “We had great fan and family support that traveled with us to Hawaii, adding to the energy our players brought on the road. Lani Walker’s brace really sparked the group, and we were able to celebrate several exciting firsts\u2014Maya Bossenbrook<\/a> scoring her first career goal, plus the first official college minutes for Nat Wenner, Kyla Stroker<\/a>, Bailey Boyd<\/a>, Faith Hines<\/a>, and a few others. For Faith especially, it was special to compete in front of her hometown friends and family.”<\/p>\n From the opening whistle, the Eagles dictated the tempo, controlling possession and piling up chances. Eastern outshot the Sharks 22-0 and held a 14-0 edge in corner kicks. The breakthrough came quickly, as Bossenbrook found the net in the 5th minute off sharp passes from Riley Arribas<\/a> and Delaney Deckett<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Eagles doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Walker buried her fourth goal of the season, finishing off a smooth build-up created by Kendall Moore<\/a> and Arribas. She struck again in the 63rd minute, notching her team-leading fifth goal with Moore and Charity Freeman<\/a> providing the assists.<\/p>\n Eastern’s back line and goalkeeper Mallory Osborn<\/a> were unshakable, recording a third shutout of the year without allowing Hawaii Pacific a single shot on goal.
