The Beer Store will be closing seven more stores across Ontario before the end of this year, including one in the Greater Toronto Area.<\/p>\n
In a news release, the retailer said a location in Brampton at 374 Main St. N. will close effective Nov. 16.<\/p>\n
Stores in Alexandria, Barrie, Beaverton, Cornwall, Gananoque, and South River will also close on the same date.<\/p>\n
\u201cSelling beer and collecting empties in Ontario is changing as part of marketplace expansion,\u201d Ozzie Ahmed, The Beer Store\u2019s vice-president of retail, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo meet the needs of an evolving retail market, The Beer Store is making the difficult decision to close retail locations and is committed to meeting the requirements of the Early Implementation Agreement. We know this is difficult news for consumers, recyclers and our employees.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Beer Store says \u201call efforts\u201d will be made to support employees through the closures. It is unclear how many employees will be let go, or if they will be moved to other nearby branches.<\/p>\n
This is the latest in a series of closure-related announcements<\/a> that the alcohol retailer has made since the start of 2025.<\/p>\n
