Kyle Schwarber just keeps on hitting home runs.<\/p>\n

It’s what the Philadelphia Phillies’ slugger does, and very few have ever had a season quite like the one Schwarber is having.<\/p>\n

On Monday night, Schwarber launched his 53rd homer of the season, but there was something extra special about this one.<\/p>\n

Schwarber hit it off of left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda. It was Schwarber’s 22nd home run of the season off a lefty pitcher.<\/p>\n

That ties the major league record. Two other hitters in MLB history have hit 22 home runs as a left-handed batter off a left-handed pitcher: 1949 Stan Musial and 2021 Matt Olson.<\/p>\n

Schwarber now has a couple of weeks to break it, too.<\/p>\n

There have been plenty of prodigious left-handed power seasons, including from Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth, but even they never did this.<\/p>\n

Schwarber has put up four consecutive monster seasons for the Phillies, and this is definitely the greatest one yet.<\/p>\n

It’s putting pressure on the Philadelphia front office, because Schwarber is a free agent after the season.<\/p>\n

But before that time arrives, there’s a chance to make noise in the postseason. And if Schwarber keeps hitting bombs like this, good things will happen for the Phillies.<\/p>\n
