{"id":148438,"date":"2025-09-16T16:47:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T16:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/148438\/"},"modified":"2025-09-16T16:47:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T16:47:06","slug":"nick-arbuckle-calf-not-practicing-jarret-doege-expected-to-start-for-toronto-argonauts-in-week-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/148438\/","title":{"rendered":"Nick Arbuckle (calf) not practicing, Jarret Doege expected to start for Toronto Argonauts in Week 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">After his late heroics in Saturday\u2019s win over the Edmonton Elks, Toronto Argonauts quarterback Jarret Doege is expected to get the start under centre in place of the injured Nick Arbuckle against the Montreal Alouettes in Week 16, according to TSN\u2019s Dave Naylor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Arbuckle was not seen at practice Tuesday after sustaining a calf injury in the late stages of the win over Edmonton, with Naylor adding that the 2024 Grey Cup MVP is expected to be sidelined for an additional 2-4 weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Chad Kelly, who has still yet to make his season debut, was not seen in a jersey for Tuesday\u2019s session, and appears to be out for at least another week while working his way back from a fractured tibia and fibula suffered in last year\u2019s Eastern Final.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No Nick Arbuckle at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TorontoArgos?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@TorontoArgos<\/a> practice Tuesday. I knew we were trying to get to the 50 or past the 50 to get a field goal so that was my main goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Doege, a native of Lubbock, Tex., had spent the first two seasons of his CFL career with the Elks, dressing in 20 contests for the Green and Gold while throwing for 593 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cOh yeah, that felt good,\u201d the 27-year-old pivot said on beating his former team. \u201cIt felt it had a little more to it than any other game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt (coming off bench) is tough to do.
