PC: Pilikahakai Foundation<\/p>\n<p>This Sunday, Pilikahakai Foundation\u2019s Cultures and Coastlines Speaker Series presents a hana hou (encore) event at Maui Ocean Center\u2019s Sphere \u2013 Using Coral Genetics to Empower Local Stewardship of Maui Reefs. The community is invited to a free, family friendly event exploring how science and culture can work together to protect Hawai\u2018i\u2019s reefs. <\/p>\n<p>Building on the recent speaker series earlier this month, the encore program again features Ka\u2018ikuliumaikalani (Kaiku) Kaholoa\u2018a, a Native Hawaiian from Moloka\u02bbi\u00a0 and Ph.D. student at Stanford. Kaiku\u2019s research bridges coral genetics and indigenous knowledge, identifying heat-tolerant \u201csuper reefs\u201d and mentoring the next generation of stewards across Maui Nui.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/kaiku-coral-genetics-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-500148\"\/>Using Coral Genetics to Empower Local Stewardship of Maui Reefs. PC: Pilikahakai Foundation<\/p>\n<p>Presented by Pilikahakai Foundation in partnership with Maui Ocean Center, Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute, \u02bb\u0100ina Momona, Ocean Conservancy, and other local organizations, the series fosters collaborative solutions to protect Maui\u2019s natural and cultural resources for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/p>\n<p>In line with Pilikahakai Foundation\u2019s mission to blend culture, science and community action, the organization will also host additional events in October.
