The Miami Hurricanes lost all their top wide receivers and their quarterback.<\/p>\n

So far, they haven’t skipped a beat.<\/p>\n

Carson Beck came in to be the new QB, and he was proven, having starred for Georgia.<\/p>\n

But the top Miami receiver so far was less of a sure thing, at least based on college experience.<\/p>\n

Malachi Toney is a true freshman, but he’s been ready right from the start, and it has been crucial for the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

“Coaches raved about true freshman receiver\u00a0Malachi Toney\u00a0all offseason, and through three games, it is easy to see why,” ESPN’s Andrea Adelson writes<\/a>. “Toney has been electric for a revamped receiver corps, leading Miami with 18 catches for 228 yards and a score. Coach Mario Cristobal has praised Toney for his approach, saying he practices and prepares like an NFL veteran. Toney has six catches in each of his first three games. He finished with 66 yards in a 49-12 win over\u00a0South Florida\u00a0on Saturday. True freshman\u00a0Josh Moore\u00a0had two touchdown catches in the win, also earning praise. Miami lost its top four receivers from a year ago, but with Toney, Moore and transfer\u00a0CJ Daniels\u00a0emerging, this group has not missed a beat.”<\/p>\n

Miami will have more challenges ahead, but so far, Toney seems up to them. It’s impressive for Cristobal to say he prepares like an NFL veteran.<\/p>\n

That’s a sign of great things to come.<\/p>\n

But this Toney has the potential to be just as much of a playmaker for The U.<\/p>\n
