Former Celtic Academy starlet Daniel Kelly\u2019s tough start to his Millwall career continues this season.<\/p>\n

Young Kelly left Celtic<\/a> in August of last year and has since made just ten appearances for the English Championship side.<\/p>\n

Kelly<\/a> made his Millwall debut in the Carabao Cup<\/a> last season and has featured just nine times since making his Celtic exit.<\/p>\n

This is probably understandable considering his age but as a new season dawns, the ex-Celtic kid has suffered from some injury issues at Millwall.<\/p>\n

And last night, those injury problems returned as young Kelly was forced off in the Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

Young Kelly was subbed off earlier this season as injury forced the 19-year-old to be withdrawn from the 1-0 League Cup win over Newport County in August after just 25 minutes.<\/p>\n

The defensive midfielder had just recovered from an injury which had kept him out of Millwall\u2019s pre-season preparations.<\/p>\n

And last night against Crystal Palace, the youngster was taken off again after 23 minutes as Millwall boss Alex Neil explained.<\/p>\n

Neil told Southwark News<\/a>, \u201cMax [Crocombe] has got a sore toe, I believe, and Dan\u2019s got a tight hamstring. So I don\u2019t know how long they normally take.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brendan Rodgers once admitted that Kelly was offered a contract that would have seen him being \u2018brought into the Celtic first team<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

However, despite that, the young midfielder still decided to leave and Rodgers\u2019 words at the time were quite cutting.<\/p>\n

The Celtic manager said, \u201cDaniel, as a young player, again, has been offered a really, really good con\u00adtract by the club. A con\u00adtract that would see him come into the first-team squad and play and per\u00adform and develop because he has a lot of devel\u00adop\u00adment to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spoken with the agents and the player some months back to say, \u2018listen, if we can\u2019t tidy this up by the sum\u00admer, then it\u2019s very hard to be with the team in the pre-sea\u00adson\u2019. It\u2019s really as simple as that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like Daniel but he has a lot of work to do and I feel that for him and the fam\u00adily, this is a great place for him to be able to do that. You know, you\u2019ve got a man\u00adager who sees a tal\u00adent there, who sees the phys\u00adic\u00adal\u00adity that he has, lots of things, and the areas he needs to brush up on. What a great club and place this is for him to be able to do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that\u2019s not enough then that\u2019s OK. It\u2019s abso\u00adlutely fine. You know, you\u2019ll go some\u00adwhere else and maybe play but, listen, you never know. We\u2019ve got until Decem\u00adber\/Janu\u00adary time but it\u2019s just dis\u00adap\u00adpoint\u00ading at this stage that it hasn\u2019t happened because he would have had a great oppor\u00adtun\u00adity this pre-sea\u00adson.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I said, I know the value both in terms of the play\u00aders\u2019 qual\u00adit\u00adies and the con\u00adtract offer, the offers that the club gave were very, very good for young play\u00aders in terms of where they\u2019re at, with the greatest respect.
