A 28-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Calgary\u2019s south early Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n
Calgary police say it happened around 12:40 a.m. on southbound Macleod Trail S.<\/p>\n
As a result, southbound Macleod Trail between Canyon Meadows Drive and Shawnessy Boulevard SW was closed to traffic for several hours. <\/p>\n
Staff Sgt. John Guigon says crews were waiting to clear up the last bit of debris.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur traffic members on scene have indicated that they\u2019re simply waiting for the arrival\u00a0of a a street cleaner to pick up the last bits of debris at the scene,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Area roads reopened to traffic just before 7 a.m. <\/p>\n
Police say speed is a factor in this incident. <\/p>\n
This crash is the latest in a string of several fatal motorcycle incidents this summer. <\/p>\n
On Aug. 24, a 20-year-old man died when he hit an SUV on his motorcycle at 16 Avenue and 10 Street NE. Nearly a week later, on Aug. 15, at 12 Avenue and Centre Street SE, a man in his 60s died after crashing his bike. <\/p>\n
A few weeks before that, on Aug. 5, a man in his 40s died after losing control changing lanes on Stoney Trail near Crowchild Trail NW. <\/p>\n
Guigon said all of them have one thing in common. <\/p>\n
\u201cJust please slow down, that really would help things significantly,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
