Priscilla Presley says the death of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was the \u201csecond saddest\u201d day of her life.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the second saddest day of my life, other than losing Elvis [Presley],\u201d Priscilla, 80, told People<\/a> on Wednesday ahead of the release of her memoir \u201cSoftly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt took a long time to come to terms with the fact that Lisa was gone,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Elvis died of a heart attack in August 1977 at the age of 42. His only child, Lisa Marie, whom he shared with ex-wife Priscilla, died in January 2023<\/a> from a small bowel obstruction that developed after a bariatric surgery she\u2019d had years prior. Lisa really wasn\u2019t breathing, so she was on the ventilator,\u201d Priscilla told People, adding that they spent hours \u201cwaiting, hoping and praying\u201d for a miracle.<\/p>\n But that miracle didn\u2019t come. \u201cThe doctor came in and said, \u2018Priscilla, I\u2019m so sorry, she\u2019s gone,’\u201d she recalled. \u201cWe just couldn\u2019t believe it \u2014 didn\u2019t want to believe it. It was hard on all of us; it still is.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt took a long time to come to terms with the fact that Lisa was gone,\u201d she added.
