Former Everton star Kevin Kilbane reckons the Premier League side should make a move for Celtic star Alistair Johnston<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n

The right-back has been a key figure at Parkhead since joining the Hoops from CF Montreal in January 2023 – having gone on to sweep a Treble and two double-winning campaigns at Celtic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old – who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury<\/a> – penned a contract extension with Celtic just last year that will keep him in Glasgow’s east end until 2029.<\/p>\n

And while Kilbane concedes he would like the Canada international to remain with the Premiership leaders long-term, he reckons David Moyes<\/a> will be a fan of Johnston.<\/p>\n

Having spoken to the defender on the Park the Bus Podcast<\/a>, he said: \u201cI know we\u2019ve had a chat with Alistair Johnston, and when we asked the question around where he sees his future, it\u2019s definitely a season like this where that could be done, if something comes around in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could see it happening. Whether it\u2019s (Nottingham) Forest, I could see him maybe somewhere like Everton or somewhere like that.<\/p>\n

“We know the kind of coach that David Moyes is and we know that Alistair would bring that type of stability that Moyes would love in a full-back.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo there\u2019s a number of options you can see, but I personally hope he stays at Celtic, and plays for the biggest club in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnston told Kilbane that he was in no rush to leave Celtic<\/a> – while conceding a crack at the Premier League is his “dream”.<\/p>\n

He said: “I think it’s a really good problem to have in terms of none of those options sound bad to me in the slightest.<\/p>\n

“If you were to say that I was able to finish my career at Celtic, it means that I’ve done something really, really, really well done. I’ve done something right for a club of this magnitude to want to keep me in the building for that long.<\/p>\n

“At the same time, I’m a player that I’ve sometimes probably struggled when I get satisfied to a degree, I get comfortable.<\/p>\n

“I think that’s sometimes when my game can lag a little bit because I rely so much on my physicality, my mental fortitude of being so locked in that sometimes I like being out of my comfort zone. And that’s what really kind of brings out the best in me.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, the Premier League<\/a> is obviously a dream, I think, of pretty much every player.<\/p>\n

“It’s the highest level that you can play at.
