Billy Joel<\/a> has a positive health update for his fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know a lot of people are worried about me and my health, but I\u2019m OK,\u201d he told the magazine. \u201cWhat I have is something very few people know about, including me, no matter how much you try to research it. I\u2019m doing my best to work with it and to recover from it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Normal pressure hydrocephalus is a treatable brain condition caused by a buildup of excess cerebrospinal fluid. The condition can cause pressure inside the head and on brain tissue, leading to neurological complications that affect hearing, vision and balance.<\/p>\n

For Joel, it was balance issues that first alerted him something was off.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like being on a boat all the time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While the singer-songwriter called his diagnosis \u201cdisturbing,\u201d he emphasized he wasn\u2019t dealing with anything life-threatening.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was scary, but I\u2019m OK,\u201d Joel said. \u201cI just wanted to let people know, don\u2019t worry about me being deathly ill or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cUptown Girl\u201d crooner struck a similarly optimistic tone while appearing on Monday\u2019s episode of the \u201cClub Random\u201d podcast<\/a>, where he told host Bill Maher, \u201cI feel good. They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I\u2019m feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in May, Joel\u2019s team announced he was canceling all upcoming concert dates on the advice of his doctors but shared he was \u201cundergoing specific physical therapy\u201d for his health issue.<\/p>\n
