An amateur champion who has worked with former world champion Jeff Horn, Paro (26-1) beat Subriel Matias last June to win the IBF super lightweight title. His rise to the top did not last long, as he lost the belt against Richardson Hitchins in December.<\/p>\n

The Mackay-born Paro looks to win two straight in front of family and friends and return to title contention.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve been to the top before,” said Paro via BoxingScene<\/a>. “I know what it takes to become a champion, but this time it\u2019s about more than a belt. It\u2019s about becoming the name people talk about for years to come. To fight for a world title shot in my home state, in a venue as iconic as Pat Rafter Arena, is something special.<\/p>\n

“David Papot is tough, seasoned, and coming here to win \u2014 but I\u2019ve sacrificed too much to let this slip. Brisbane, we\u2019re making history, and I\u2019m going to make sure you remember exactly where you were the night it happened.”<\/p>\n

Papot (30-0-1) went 3-0 in 2024 after missing a year of action. The French fighter has won various titles but looks to prove he can beat world-level fighters when he faces Paro.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, former world title contender Liam Wilson (16-3) returns to action, as will former Keith Thurman opponent Brock Jarvis (23-2).<\/p>\n
