Week 16 in the CFL kicks off on Friday night with a pivotal East Division battle between the Montreal Alouettes and Toronto Argonauts.<\/p>\n
After Toronto quarterback Nick Arbuckle was ruled out with a calf injury, the spread shifted from Montreal -2.5 to -6.5. With the Als coming off their best performance of the year, my Alouettes vs. Argonauts predictions are following the line movement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Here are my best free CFL picks<\/a> for this clash on September 19.<\/p>\n Alouettes vs Argonauts prediction<\/p>\n My Alouettes vs Argonauts pick: Alouettes -6.5 (-120 at BET99<\/a>)<\/p>\n The Montreal Alouettes<\/a> are coming off a huge 48-31 victory on the road against the first-place Roughriders.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Alouettes were unable to contain Saskatchewan’s explosive attack, but I expect their defense to bounce back on Friday. Montreal is fourth in the league in sacks while allowing the second-fewest yards per pass attempt (8.24).<\/p>\n The only positive about the Toronto Argonauts<\/a> this season has been the play of quarterback Nick Arbuckle. Unfortunately, Arbuckle has been ruled out, and with Chad Kelly still recovering, the QB duties will fall to Jarret Doege.<\/p>\n Doege has just one start in the CFL, back in 2023 when he played for Edmonton and completed 19 of 33 passes for 223 yards with three interceptions. Behind a poor offensive line and with a non-existent run game, Doege will struggle against this Als stop unit.<\/p>\n On the other side of the ball, Toronto is allowing a league-high 32.1 points per game while also ranking last in the CFL in yards allowed per pass (9.80).<\/p>\n The Als have struggled to throw the ball without starting quarterback Davis Alexander, but backup McLeod Bethel-Thompson came off the IL last week and impressed. The vet completed 20 of 26 passes for 379 yards, and with Montreal’s WR corps now healthy, he should take advantage of a leaky Argos secondary.<\/p>\n Alouettes vs Argonauts same-game parlay (SGP)<\/p>\n
