Provincial officials say there is no tsunami threat to B.C.’s coast following a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck\u00a0the Pacific Basin near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier Thursday,\u00a0a tsunami advisory had been issued\u00a0for the Aleutian Islands and Amchitka Pass off Alaska’s coast.<\/p>\n

The quake struck about 410 kilometres southwest of Bering Island, Russia,\u00a0at 11:58 a.m. PT.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to EmergencyInfoBC, there is no threat to B.C.’s coastline as\u00a0of 1:08 p.m. PT.\u00a0<\/p>\n
