\u201cIf I didn\u2019t have them, I would have been a wreck, I\u2019d probably be in jail, and I\u2019m serious about that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
As an adult, she\u2019s found a passion for tennis, and now she wants to introduce more in the community to the sport. While she\u2019s got a particular focus on youth, she wants to create an organization that can facilitate access to tennis for Kahnawa\u2019kehr\u00f3:non of all ages.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a sport for absolutely everyone,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019ll have children, teenagers, adults, we\u2019re looking at everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Right now, McGregor is in the process of securing sponsorships and coordinating volunteers to help launch the club in time for tennis season next year, most likely in May or June. One of their first tasks will be purchasing equipment, like tennis rackets, nets, and sportswear for players \u2013 something that she said can often be an obstacle to getting involved in the sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cTennis is a really expensive sport. Most parents can\u2019t afford the fees, they can\u2019t afford the equipment.
