Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas on Friday ripped FCC Chairman Brendan Carr over his attacks on Jimmy Kimmel \u2014 likening the regulator to a Mafia boss.<\/p>\n
ABC on Wednesday said it was suspending Kimmel \u201cindefinitely\u201d<\/a> after he falsely claimed that Charlie Kirk\u2019s alleged killer was a MAGA conservative.<\/p>\n Just a few hours before ABC announced his suspension, Carr had suggested that there was a \u201cstrong case\u201d for the FCC to take action against ABC and its owner, Disney.<\/p>\n US Senator Ted Cruz compared FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to a Mafia boss. REUTERS<\/p>\n \u201cHe says, \u2018We can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way,\u2019\u201d Cruz said \u2013 quoting Carr\u2019s comments \u2013 on his podcast, \u201cVerdict with Ted Cruz.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I gotta say, that\u2019s right out of Goodfellas,\u201d Cruz said in a nod to the classic 1990 mob film.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s right out of a mafioso coming into a bar going, \u2018Nice bar you have here, it\u2019d be a shame if something happened to it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Cruz admitted that he is not a fan of Kimmel and is \u201cthrilled that he was fired.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut let me tell you, if the government gets in the business of saying we don\u2019t say what you the media have said, we\u2019re going to ban you from the airwaves if you don\u2019t say what we like, that will end up bad for conservatives,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n President Trump \u2013 who cheered Kimmel\u2019s suspension \u2013 said Thursday that the US government might start revoking broadcast licenses from networks<\/a> that are mostly \u201cagainst\u201d him.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re 97% against, they give me only bad press.
