{"id":155937,"date":"2025-09-19T23:50:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T23:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/155937\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T23:50:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T23:50:06","slug":"toronto-rapper-shooting-suspect-charged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/155937\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto rapper shooting: suspect charged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"b-date-custom__date-item\">Updated:\u00a0September 19, 2025 at 5:59PM EDT<\/p>\n<p class=\"b-date-custom__date-item\">Published:\u00a0September 19, 2025 at 4:25PM EDT<\/p>\n<p>Toronto police have arrested a 21-year-old man in the deadly shooting of Shakur Clarke-Sargeant, also known as rapper YTN Paco. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 21-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of a Toronto rapper in Scarborough on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police were called to Kingston and Galloway roads before 10:30 p.m. and located 23-year-old Shakur Clarke-Sargeant suffering gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Life-saving measures were performed but Clarke-Sargeant, known as the rapper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@YTNPaco\/videos\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@YTNPaco\/videos\">YTN Paco<\/a>, was pronounced dead at the scene. He is the city\u2019s 32nd homicide victim of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One suspect had been arrested, and in a news release on Friday, police identified him as 21-year-old Jeavon Quashie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He was charged with first-degree murder. The charge has not been tested in court. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe believe there was planning and deliberation,\u201d Det.-Sgt. Phil Campbell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/09\/16\/police-identify-23-year-old-as-victim-in-deadly-shooting-in-scarborough\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/09\/16\/police-identify-23-year-old-as-victim-in-deadly-shooting-in-scarborough\/\">said on Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Homicide investigators said a second suspect is still outstanding, but they do not know his identity yet.
