{"id":156108,"date":"2025-09-20T01:42:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-20T01:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/156108\/"},"modified":"2025-09-20T01:42:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T01:42:07","slug":"eagles-downed-by-no-2-nc-state-on-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/156108\/","title":{"rendered":"Eagles Downed by No. 2 NC State on Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEWTON, Mass.\u00a0\u2013 Boston College men&#8217;s soccer dropped an ACC match to No. 2 NC State by a 2-0 decision on Friday evening at the Newton Soccer Complex.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBC falls to 4-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the ACC while NC State improves to 7-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in league play.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Wolfpack took the lead midway through the first half when Donavan Phillip headed home a cross from Justin McLean into the top corner to put the Eagles down 1-0.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Eagles came flying out of the gates to start the second half. <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/ask-ekeland\/25695\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25695\" target=\"_blank\">Ask Ekeland<\/a> was dribbling down the middle of the pitch in the NC State half before finding <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/michael-asare\/25690\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25690\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Asare<\/a> on the left wing. Asare brought the ball down into the box and struck a shot towards the top left corner of the net that NC State goalkeeper Logan Erb was forced to push over the crossbar for a BC corner kick.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOn the ensuing corner, Ekeland whipped the ball towards the six-yard box, which <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/marci-killeen\/25700\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25700\" target=\"_blank\">Marci Killeen<\/a> redirected with his head but his effort was saved by Erb.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nNC State doubled its lead in the 71st minute when Phillip scored his second goal of the match with a header to the top left corner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Wolfpack held the edge in shots on goal, 7-4, and on corner kicks, 11-3.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBC is set to meet local rival Boston University on Tuesday evening at the Newton Soccer Field.
