Rio Ngumoha has the opportunity to make Liverpool history again when Everton travel to Anfield for the first Merseyside derby of the season.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old was promoted to the senior squad from the AXA Training Centre this summer by Arne Slot<\/a> and has already featured three times across all competitions.<\/p>\n

Ngumoha became the fourth youngest goalscorer<\/a> in Premier League history when he emerged from the bench to score the match-winner during the 3-2 win against Newcastle United.<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a> lost one of their most illustrious academy graduates in recent years when Trent Alexander-Arnold left for Real Madrid at the end of his contract.<\/p>\n

And with Slot seemingly putting an emphasis on creating a clear pathway to the first team for his youth stars, Ngumoha<\/a> can break yet another record at the Reds, and he should be given the opportunity to do so on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Rio Ngumoha can become Liverpool\u2019s youngest goalscorer vs Everton<\/p>\n

According to the club\u2019s official website<\/a>, Ngumoha could surpass legend Robbie Fowler<\/a> and become the Reds\u2019 youngest goalscorer in a Merseyside derby.<\/p>\n

Fowler was 18 years and 338 days old when he scored the match-winner during Liverpool\u2019s 2-1 win against the Blues at Anfield in 1994.<\/p>\n

Ngumoha\u2019s role thus far has been limited to small cameos off the bench, but his Champions League<\/a> debut against Atletico Madrid meant he has been on the pitch as the Reds have scored three stoppage-time winners, including his own.<\/p>\n

Liverpool view the forward as a \u201cgenerational\u201d talent<\/a> and even reportedly snubbed interest in big-money transfer targets this summer to prioritise his development.<\/p>\n

Everton, particularly under David Moyes, are notoriously difficult opponents to face at Anfield, and the other team on Merseyside will undoubtedly aim to thwart the Reds\u2019 momentum at every opportunity.<\/p>\n

Ngumoha has caught Rio Ferdinand\u2019s eye<\/a> this season despite playing only four minutes of Premier League<\/a> football, and he could be the key to unlocking the Everton defence should the supporters witness yet another nervy contest.<\/p>\n

With Jake O\u2019Brien expected to line up at right-back on Saturday, Ngumoha will certainly fancy his chances against the out-of-form defender and stands a very good chance of replicating his heroics at St James\u2019 Park.<\/p>\n

Rio Ngumoha can break another record in the Merseyside derby<\/p>\n

Regardless of whether Ngumoha can break Fowler\u2019s record, he will make Liverpool history if he is introduced at Anfield.<\/p>\n

He would become the youngest Reds player to feature in a Merseyside derby at 17 years and 22 days old, and this landmark would represent a third record broken at the beginning of his senior career.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Liverpool have not boasted a young attacking talent of Ngumoha\u2019s quality since Raheem Sterling broke through the ranks at Anfield, and remarkably, the Englishman is now on the fringes at Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n
