Charley Hull swapped the fairways for Windsor Castle on Wednesday night \u2013 and ended up with a surprise invitation from US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
Hull<\/a>, who captured her third career LPGA title at the Kroger Queen City Championship <\/a>just days earlier, was among a select group of sporting guests at the State Banquet<\/a>, joining Sir Nick Faldo<\/a> and Dame Katherine Grainger.\u00a0<\/p>\n King Charles hosted the glittering ceremony in honour of President Trump in the historic St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle, where the guest list of 160 people was about as high-profile as it gets.<\/p>\n When Hull got the chance to chat with Trump, golf was firmly on the menu.<\/p>\n “I spoke to him last night [Wednesday] and he has invited me (to play),” Hull told BBC Radio 5 Live.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n “He said he wants to sort a game out. That is pretty cool.”<\/p>\n Hull admitted Trump had already tried to line up a round with her last year through her agent, but their schedules didn\u2019t align.<\/p>\n Now, she says the pair are determined to make it happen before the year is out.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old was glowing in her review of the former President, adding: “He is a lovely man and I really got on with him.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I will look forward to playing golf with him \u2013 he was very engaging with everyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n “We were just talking about golf and he knows a few players on the LPGA Tour and some of the guys as well.”<\/p>\n Hull took to her social media to update her followers on having met Trump while attending the State Banquet in Windsor Castle.\u00a0<\/p>\n She captioned a series of photos with: “An unforgettable evening at Windsor Castle. It was an honour to be invited by the King and Queen to the State Banquet. And great to finally meet President Trump. One for the memory books.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Hull has never hidden her admiration for Trump, famously breaking into the Trump Dance on the fairway during last year\u2019s Annika event and even once suggesting he should be made “head of the UK”.<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n With Trump now back in the US following UK state visit, it seems a Hull\u2013Trump showdown could soon be pencilled into the calendar.<\/p>\n Hull captured her first victory on the LPGA in nearly three years with victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship last Sunday.<\/p>\n She took full advantage from a shocking finish from Jeeno Thitikul, who four-putted the final green to hand the title to Hull.\u00a0<\/p>\n Hull has now vaulted to a career-best fifth in the Rolex Rankings.<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n But it was unfortunately another winless season in the majors for Hull.<\/p>\n She came closest with a second runner-up finish in three years at the AIG Women’s Open.\u00a0<\/p>\n
