NORMAL \u2013 State Senator Dave Koehler welcomed the announcement that OPmobility will establish its first Illinois facility in Normal to assemble bumpers for Rivian\u2019s R2, bringing new job opportunities and another critical investment to the Central Illinois region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis announcement underscores the strength of Central Illinois as a hub for innovation and manufacturing,\u201d said Koehler (D-Peoria). \u201cOPmobility\u2019s investment will create good-paying jobs and further establish our region as a leader in the clean energy and automotive sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n

OPmobility\u2019s capital investment in Rivian\u2019s new supplier park is supported by the Senate Democrat-backed Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) program, which is designed to attract clean energy jobs to Illinois while supporting the state\u2019s climate goals. As a result of the company\u2019s investment in Central Illinois and the creation of over 80 new jobs, the move includes a REV Illinois tax credit tied to these commitments.<\/p>\n

By setting up in Rivian\u2019s supplier park and producing parts for the R2, OPmobility will help support Rivian\u2019s production ramp-up in 2026. This co-location will reduce transportation time, improve efficiency and make sure automotive parts are more readily available, promoting long-term growth and reliability in Normal.<\/p>\n

The company is a global provider of mobility solutions with a broad international footprint. The Normal facility will assemble components for Rivian\u2019s R2, which is slated to be available to consumers in 2026, and will join other recent supplier and clean-energy investments in the region.<\/p>\n
