Charlotte, N.C. \u2013 The University of Lynchburg women’s soccer team suffered a 6-1 defeat to #2 Emory in a neutral-site game at the Charlotte Soccer Academy on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Eagles opened the scoring in the second minute when Kaitlyn Nimmer converted the first scoring chance of the match. Emory fired the first seven shots of the game, a category in which the team led 21-6 upon the game’s conclusion.<\/p>\n
Emory led 3-0 at the break with Madison Teng and Mikayla Camp tallying goals. Teng earned a brace with another goal in the second half, along with scores from Emory’s Emily Woodall and Tatum Janezich.<\/p>\n
Lune DenHartog<\/a> netted the Hornets’ lone goal of the contest in the 69th minute, representing the first goal of her collegiate career. Both teams traded opportunities in the final 20 minutes, though the scoreline remained 6-1 until the final whistle.<\/p>\n Kate Shepherd<\/a> made six saves in goal for the Hornets; the senior played 66 minutes between the pipes until Kylie Cass<\/a> entered to play the remainder of the match.<\/p>\n Emory improved its record to 8-0, while the Hornets fell to 4-1-1 with their first loss of 2025. Lynchburg conceded just one goal in the first five matches of the season.<\/p>\n Lynchburg returns home to face Randolph on Shellenberger Field on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. while hosting CVU Community Night.
