September 21, 2025-The Emporia State women picked up a pair of consolation bracket championships on Sunday at the ITA Central Regional at Edmond Center Court.

\nYuliya Klimova<\/a> came from behind to defeat Emilia O’Niell of Southeastern Oklahoma 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) in the championship match of the Flight A Consolation Bracket.\u00a0 She reached the final with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Monica Balau of Arkansas Tech in the semifinals.

\nIn the Flight B Consolation Bracket Erin Cahill<\/a> defeated Antonietta Bocache of Ark.-Fort Smith 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) in the semifinals and picked up the championship when Fort Hays State’s Molly Gaddis withdrew due to personal circumstances.

\nGiovanna Ferreira<\/a> advanced to the Flight B Championship match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Northeastern State’s Daisy Barrow before falling to Ella Gates of Missouri Western 6-3, 6-2 in the championship match.

\nThe Hornets went 5-1 on Sunday and finished the weekend 17-9 in singles play in Edmond.

\nThe next action for Emporia State women will be a home dual against Minnesota State-Mankato on September 27 at the Kossover Family Tennis Center.\u00a0The next action for the Hornet men’s tennis team is scheduled for September 26-28 at the ITA Fall Regional in Topeka, Kan.
