<\/p>\n SCHENECTADY, N.Y. \u2014 The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s tennis team opened its 2025-26 season with an impressive showing at the Garnet Charger Invitational, hosted by Union College. Across three rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles, the Engineers turned in a dominant collective performance, highlighted by multiple bracket titles and an overwhelming match win total.<\/p>\n In the top singles draw, Tasmay Shah<\/a> captured the A bracket championship with a three-match run that concluded in a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Trinity’s Sam Park in the final. Shah advanced through the quarterfinals and semifinals without dropping a set, including a 6-1, 7-5 win over Union’s Jesus Sosa.<\/p>\n RPI claimed both finalist spots in the B bracket, with Sid Srinivasan<\/a> edging out teammate Gustave Viennet<\/a> in a tightly contested 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 1-0 (10-3) final. Both Engineers battled through three rounds of action to set up the all-RPI final. In earlier rounds, Srinivasan earned wins over Union and Trinity opponents, while Viennet knocked out St. Lawrence’s Jake David in the quarterfinals before securing a comeback super tiebreak win in the semis.<\/p>\n Felix Puyplat<\/a> was a standout in the D draw, reaching the final with straight-set wins over opponents from St. Lawrence and Union before being edged out in a third-set tiebreak by Trinity’s Brandon Felcher. In the E draw, Ethan Collingwood<\/a> reached the final after back-to-back wins over St. Lawrence opponents but fell 8-5 in the championship match to Trinity’s Thompson Brown.<\/p>\n In doubles action, RPI’s combinations were active and effective throughout the A bracket. Shah and Viennet advanced to the quarterfinals after an opening-round 8-4 victory, while Srinivasan and Quoc-Uy Vo<\/a> added an 8-6 win to their ledger. The pairing of Collingwood and Debarshi Sen<\/a> opened with a narrow 8-7 (7-2) win before falling in the next round. Puyplat and Atri also battled to a 7-5 tiebreak in their opening match.<\/p>\n The Engineers will now look ahead to Wednesday’s afternoon’ home dual meet versus Liberty League foe Bard.
