Marlon Wayans is standing by his new movie \u201cHim\u201d despite some less-than-stellar reviews.<\/p>\n
The sports horror movie is currently sitting at 28% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, and Wayans took to Instagram<\/a> on Sept. 19 \u2014 the film\u2019s opening day \u2014\u00a0to encourage fans not to listen to the critics and check out the movie themselves.<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cJust to be clear\u2026I respect critics. Their job is to critique,\u201d Wayans wrote. \u201cI respect their work. It shapes our industry. But an opinion does not always mean it\u2019s everyone\u2019s opinion. Some movies are ahead of the curve. Innovation is not always embraced and art is to be interpreted and it\u2019s subjective. I\u2019ve had a career of making classic movies that weren\u2019t critically received and those movies went on to be classics. So don\u2019t take anyone\u2019s opinion just go see for yourself.
