{"id":161521,"date":"2025-09-22T13:51:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T13:51:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/161521\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T13:51:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T13:51:17","slug":"abwu-to-tackle-workplace-stress-and-mental-health-at-annual-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/161521\/","title":{"rendered":"ABWU to Tackle Workplace Stress and Mental Health at Annual Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/antigua.news\/2025\/07\/12\/antigua-and-barbuda-workers-union-discusses-industry-challenges\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Antigua and Barbuda Workers\u2019 Union<\/a> (ABWU) will place workplace stress and its impact on <a href=\"https:\/\/antigua.news\/2025\/09\/13\/health-ministry-and-paho-push-forward-with-mental-health-bill-preparations\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mental health<\/a> at the centre of its 58th Annual Delegates Conference, set for Monday, September 22.<\/p>\n<p>Union officials say the issue has become a growing concern as more employees struggle to cope with the demands of today\u2019s work environment.<\/p>\n<p>Stress-related problems such as burnout, anxiety, depression, and reduced productivity have been increasingly reported among workers.<\/p>\n<p>ABWU Deputy General Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/antigua.news\/2025\/07\/16\/workers-unite-for-improved-conditions-at-abwu-meeting\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chester Hughes<\/a> urged both employers and unions to treat the matter with urgency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStress on the job is not just a personal matter\u2014it\u2019s a workplace issue,\u201d Hughes said. \u201cEmployers and unions must work together to create healthier environments where employees feel supported, respected, and valued.
