UPDATE | Organizers and Ottawa police said early Monday morning the Ottawa-Gatineau protest had been cancelled.<\/p>\n

Monday morning traffic in Ottawa-Gatineau could be\u00a0slower than normal as a cavalcade of protesting truckers will be on the road during that time.<\/p>\n

A group called\u00a0Assez c’est assez. Sauvons l’industrie du camionnage\u00a0are calling\u00a0for the return of roadside checkpoints and an end to the use of illegal drivers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A post on the group’s\u00a0Facebook page said they plan to meet at the IGA on La V\u00e9rendrye Boulevard and then at 5 a.m. start\u00a0toward Hull via Highway 50.<\/p>\n

They’ll then cross the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge into Ottawa, before turning around and going back on the same route.<\/p>\n

In a social media post<\/a>, the Ottawa Police Service said one lane of the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge will be temporarily closed from 6 a.m. until about 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

The post said the demonstration may\u00a0impact morning commutes on both sides of the river and that people should\u00a0expect slower traffic and delays on Dalhousie Street, Boteler Street, Sussex Drive, and King Edward Avenue.<\/p>\n

Police also said they will increase their presence so that all road users remain safe.<\/p>\n
