Three Manitobans are being celebrated for their impact on Canadian music.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMA) announced Winnipeg-born Juno winner Chantal Kreviazuk as this year\u2019s inductee to the Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame, which recognizes the achievements of artists and bands.<\/p>\n

Cross Lake singer-songwriter Ernest Monias \u2014 also known as \u201cElvis of the North\u201d \u2014 has received the WCMA\u2019s Heritage Award, given to an individual who has made significant industry contributions throughout a career.<\/p>\n

The specialty award recipients will be presented with their hardware at a brunch event on Saturday in conjunction with BreakOut West, which kicks off in Winnipeg on Wednesday. Winners of WCMA artist and industry awards will be announced later this week.<\/p>\n
