He started at the bottom rung, as a Venezuelan Academy coach, before he became a rookie-ball manager. <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">When the San Diego Padres visited at the end of August and former Twins player and three-time All-Star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/luis-arraez-returns-to-target-field-more-than-2-years-after-twins-trade-excited-to-be-here\/601464475\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/luis-arraez-returns-to-target-field-more-than-2-years-after-twins-trade-excited-to-be-here\/601464475\">Luis Arraez<\/a>, a fellow Venezuelan, saw Borrego at Target Field, they embraced for a long hug. Borrego was Arraez\u2019s first coach in rookie ball. It was common for Borrego to receive calls from Arraez in the offseason: \u201cHey, what are you doing? Come over and work with me.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">\u201cHe gave me a lot of opportunities, and he helped me a lot,\u201d Arraez said. \u201cRamon is one of my favorite coaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Borrego, a Class AA manager from 2019 to \u201924, received his call to the big leagues last winter while he was in Venezuela. After all those years he tried to break through as a player, he finally did it after 20 years as a coach. <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">\u201cThat\u2019s your dream,\u201d Borrego said. \u201cI got it now.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">The thing players appreciated about Borrego is how much he focused on winning in the minor leagues.
