{"id":1645,"date":"2025-07-17T02:44:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T02:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/1645\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T02:44:16","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T02:44:16","slug":"n20m-donation-boosts-lagos-schools-entrepreneurship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/1645\/","title":{"rendered":"N20m Donation Boosts Lagos School&#8217;s Entrepreneurship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Samuel Olatunji Adebakin Foundation has donated N20 million to Joseph\u2019s Secondary School Agege to promote entrepreneurial education in the school.\n<\/p>\n<p>The donation was made at the school\u2019s 2025 Founders\u2019 Day Anniversary held at the Lagos Country Club orgnised by the Global Alumni Association on Sunday.\n<\/p>\n<p>The gift was offered by the founder of the Foundation who was represented by Oluwajimi Adebakin, a 1980 alumnus and chairman of the occasion.\n<\/p>\n<p>The celebration brought together former students, teachers, and dignitaries to reflect on the school\u2019s legacy and explore ways to enhance learning for current students.<\/p>\n<p>In his keynote address, Adebakin stressed the importance of equipping students with practical skills rather than just theoretical knowledge.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world is evolving, and Nigeria needs graduates who can create jobs, not just seek employment,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>Adebakin, who described himself as \u2018the luckiest man on earth\u2019 shared his inspiring journey from being a struggling student to a successful entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI came to this school as a failure, with my mother begging for my admission. Today, I run a thriving logistics business as a qualified accountant.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis donation, made in honour of my late father, Chief Samuel Olatunji Adebakin, will support our school in fulfilling the vision of its founders, who originally named it St. Joseph\u2019s Commercial School to foster innovation and self-reliance\u201d, he added. <\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Toyin Ukana-Bisiriyu, President of the Alumni Association, expressed deep appreciation for the donation, stating that it would significantly upgrade the school\u2019s vocational and business studies curriculum.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis generous contribution will provide empowerment for our students, who have entrepreneurial skills and need support to make it happen,\u201d she said.\n<\/p>\n<p>The event also featured an anniversary lecture delivered by Prof. Pius Adejoh of the University of Lagos\u2019 Sociology Department.\n<\/p>\n<p>Titled \u201cThe importance of loyal connections and networking in prosperous human endeavours\u201d, the lecture highlighted the role of strategic relationships in personal and professional success.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one truly prospers alone. Behind every success story is a network\u2014what we call social capital.
