The Algonquin Wolves women\u2019s soccer team kept a clean sheet against the Lakehead Thunderwolves, winning 2-0 on Sept. 20 at the Z-building field and continuing their undefeated streak.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re 5-0. We\u2019re off to a pretty good start, so pretty happy with that,\u201d said Basil Philips, head coach for the Wolves.<\/p>\n

Despite the early success of the team, Philips said he\u2019s keeping his eyes on the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to keep improving,\u201d said Philips. \u201cThis is just the midpoint of the season, so we\u2019re just working our way through towards the end goal. The end goal is the victory, so we are looking at the end of the season and continuing on that pathway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Players echoed Philips\u2019 enthusiasm about their victories.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels amazing to go 5-0,\u201d said Alex Aubin, who scored both of the Wolves\u2019 goals. \u201cThat was our goal, to go 5-0, and hopefully we will go at least 10-0.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe keep doing what we are doing,\u201d said Aubin when asked how they will achieve a 10-0 winning streak. \u201cWe\u2019re really working on keeping our composure when we are up, (to) keep focusing and don\u2019t switch anything up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust keep the pack mentality,\u201d said the Wolves\u2019 Mallory Armstrong. \u201cWe\u2019re a team, we\u2019re a family. If we just keep up our strong game, I think we can definitely go pretty far.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wolves dominated the game, playing most of the time in the Thunderwolves\u2019 half.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were just staying patient,\u201d said Philips. \u201cThey were playing the ball around the back like we knew they would, but they didn\u2019t have much threat going forward. So we were just patient and looking to turn over the ball, and once we took possession we attacked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we played really well offensively,\u201d said Armstrong. \u201cWe kept the high press against them, kept getting them to move the ball back-and-forth, which is what our goal was today.\u201d<\/p>\n
