Now, when you come across an end screen, you can select a new \u201chide\u201d button in the top-right corner of the video so you can finish what you\u2019re watching without distractions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">YouTube says it\u2019s making the change in response to feedback that viewers want to be able to \u201cfocus on the content they\u2019re watching.\u201d I\u2019ve long looked for ways to hide these screens, as they sometimes cover the tail end of the video I\u2019m trying to watch and make it difficult to see what\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">YouTube notes that when you select the \u201chide\u201d button, it only applies to the video you\u2019re watching \u2014 not all of them on the platform. You can also bring back the end screen by selecting the \u201cshow\u201d button. YouTube found that this didn\u2019t have a substantial impact on a creator\u2019s view count while testing the feature, as it says the \u201chide\u201d button resulted in just a 1.5 percent decrease in views from end screens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">In addition to this change, YouTube is removing the \u201csubscribe\u201d button that appears when you hover your mouse over a channel\u2019s watermark on desktop. Doing this will \u201csimplify and improve the viewing experience,\u201d according to YouTube, as the platform already displays a subscribe button directly beneath videos.
