Despite a Hollywood career spanning 35 years, Neal McDonough<\/a> says he\u2019s never kissed a woman on-screen before \u2015 until now. <\/p>\n

McDonough, whose credits include \u201cBand of Brothers\u201d and \u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger,\u201d stars as bull riding champion Joe Wainwright in \u201cThe Last Rodeo<\/a>,\u201d released in May. In a TikTok video posted that same month, the actor said he\u2019d been able to make an exception to his long-standing pledge against love scenes<\/a> and even kissing in films by convincing his wife, Ruv\u00e9 Robertson, to join the film\u2019s cast. <\/p>\n

\u201cMany people out there have asked me what it\u2019s like to have your first screen kiss, which I just did in \u2018The Last Rodeo,\u2019\u201d McDonough explained. \u201cThe reason it\u2019s so special to me, as everyone knows, I won\u2019t kiss another woman on-screen, but now I get to kiss the one, the only, my best friend, and the love of my life, Ruv\u00e9, who plays my wife, Rose.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing both the movie and his wife\u2019s performance as \u201camazing,\u201d he added: \u201cTo have my first screen kiss and to actually play the hero, and kiss the girl in the end, is something that I\u2019ve never done, but something I\u2019ve always wanted to do my whole career. Now I get to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reaction to the TikTok video was mostly positive, with many fans praising McDonough\u2019s \u201cintegrity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only man with a spine,\u201d one person wrote. <\/p>\n

Added another: \u201cBeautiful. True love! The rest of Hollywood is trash.\u201d<\/p>\n

McDonough and Robertson have been married since 2003. The couple, who are devout Catholics, share five children. <\/p>\n

McDonough has been outspoken<\/a> in his refusal to portray intimacy on-screen for some time. \u201cIf I\u2019m in bed with another woman, I don\u2019t want my kids to see that,\u201d he said while speaking at a 2019 Orange Catholic Foundation<\/a> event. \u201cI don\u2019t want my family to see that. I really don\u2019t want God to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, the Massachusetts native says his adherence to those guidelines has cost him a number of acting jobs over the years, most notably in 2010, when he was reportedly axed<\/a> from the cast of ABC\u2019s \u201cScoundrels,\u201d starring Virginia Madsen. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter that, I couldn\u2019t get a job because everybody thought I was this religious zealot,\u201d he told Closer Weekly<\/a> in 2019. \u201cI am very religious. I put God and family first, and me second. That\u2019s what I live by. It was hard for a few years.\u201d <\/p>\n

When McDonough joined \u201cDesperate Housewives\u201d for its fifth season in 2009, he said series creator Marc Cherry updated the show\u2019s script<\/a> so that his character, Dave Williams, wouldn\u2019t have to kiss fellow actor Nicollette Sheridan, who portrayed Dave\u2019s wife, Edie Britt. <\/p>\n
