Saskatchewan (10-3) has already locked up a playoff berth and leads the West, while Edmonton (5-9) is fighting to salvage any postseason hope late in the season. The Roughriders are favourites on the road going into this game. Before it begins, you can keep reading to get my Roughriders vs Elks prediction.

Our Roughriders vs Elks PickPick: Saskatchewan Roughriders –4.5Confidence: ★★★★☆Game SnapshotMatchup: Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Edmonton ElksDate & Time: Saturday, September 27, 2025, 7:00 PM ETVenue: Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, AlbertaBroadcast: TSN / CFL+Roughriders vs Elks OddsOddsLineSpreadRiders –3.5MoneylineRiders –205 / Elks +170Total (Over/Under)54.5Key StorylinesSaskatchewan chasing West supremacy: The Roughriders clinched a playoff spot earlier than ever in franchise history and now are focused on securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They’re +270 Grey Cup favourites thanks to their 10-3 record and stingy defense.Edmonton’s desperation and QB change: The Elks began the season with Tre Ford at quarterback. But they switched to Cody Fajardo after a 1–5 start. Fajardo has delivered better stability but the team has still struggled for the most part. Defensive contrast: Saskatchewan boasts one of the top defenses in the league, particularly in run defense. The Elks’ defense, meanwhile, has allowed over 27 points per game and is more vulnerable in the secondary. Motivation and control: Edmonton is nearly eliminated from playoff contention and will be fighting to keep their slim hopes alive. Saskatchewan can’t afford to take the Elks lightly given their desperation at this juncture of the season.Quarterback Play

Saskatchewan QB Trevor Harris: Harris has been reliable, efficient, and composed this year. In the Riders’ recent loss to Montreal, he passed for 23/32 and 252 yards with a touchdown. He led the Riders to 31 points in that game and was let down by their defense.

Edmonton QB Cody Fajardo: Fajardo has delivered multiple-TD games and added spark after the QB change. In their most recent outing, he threw for 280 yards. He was also let down by his team’s defense, as 27 points was not good enough to beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This week, he will face pressure from Saskatchewan’s pass rush and secondary, and must rely on safety valves.

Betting Trends & H2HSaskatchewan is 8-5 against the spread this season. The Roughriders are 5-1 ATS in their road games this year.Edmonton is 9-5 against the spread this season. The Elks are 4-2 ATS at home in 2025.Roughriders vs Elks Model Projection

Score Projection: Saskatchewan 28 – Edmonton 17

Win Probability: Saskatchewan 65%, Edmonton 35%

Final Thoughts

Saskatchewan enters this game as the more complete team and has both the defensive strength and quarterback stability to outclass the Elks. Edmonton will try to keep this game close with Fajardo’s arm, but the Riders’ secondary and pass rush should make it difficult for them to do that. My best bet for this game is for Saskatchewan to cover the spread as a home favourite to close out Week 17 in the CFL.

Jay Sanin

Jay Sanin is a sports bettor, writer and broadcaster from New York.
