Manu Feildel<\/a> has established quite a friendly persona in recent seasons of My Kitchen Rules<\/a>, joking with his co-host Colin Fassnidge<\/a> and staying out of the drama. However, tensions reached a boiling point in Wednesday night\u2019s episode when the French chef called out one of this year\u2019s contestants<\/a> in front of the entire cast.<\/p>\n

\u2018Meat Master\u2019 Michael<\/a>, who has repeatedly stirred the pot this season, accused his co-star Amy of breaking the rules because her social media states that she is a \u2018private cook\u2019. MKR contestants aren\u2019t allowed to have any professional experience, with last year\u2019s winner, Simone Prest,<\/a> telling Yahoo Lifestyle<\/a>\u00a0that he was able to compete because he works \u201cfront of house\u201d at his two Brisbane restaurants and is not a trained chef.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo basically, you can own a food business as long as you don\u2019t work as a chef in it. You\u2019re not allowed to have a chef certificate or a cheffing diploma,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

While Amy<\/a> asserted that she doesn\u2019t have any professional qualifications and is a cook, not a chef, Michael persisted, pointing out that she had cooked for Chris Hemsworth and Lorna Jane.<\/p>\n

Manu speaks out<\/p>\n

Manu, who typically remains silent during squabbles at the dinner table, then interrupted Michael to clarify that the rule is \u201cyou shouldn\u2019t have any professional qualifications\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could be brought up with a mother who\u2019s an amazing cook and taught you how to cook since you were five years old, or you could have a couple of years of experience in the kitchen, or you could have a family that owns a restaurant and you\u2019ve been washing pots and pans since you were 12 years old,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why we have to draw that line about professionalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael doubles down<\/p>\n

Despite being called out by Manu, Michael continued to accuse his co-stars of breaking the rules. After Mark and Tan served Chicken Khao Soi as the main, he interrupted Manu\u2019s mid-critique to question whether the dish is on the menu at Tan\u2019s family restaurant, which it is.<\/p>\n

Manu clearly had had enough, telling Michael: \u201cListen, you either accept the rules and you play with everyone, or you don\u2019t accept the rules and goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n

The table fell silent as Michael continued to argue, saying it was \u201ccompletely unfair\u201d, as Manu asserted that he was \u201cnot going to go back to this rule again\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re either a professional and you don\u2019t belong here, or you are an amateur and you belong here. That is it. Done. Move on,\u201d he said, later giving the dish a perfect 10.<\/p>\n

Viewers divided over essential rule<\/p>\n

Comments on social media were divided following Manu and Michael\u2019s confrontation, with some viewers saying they \u201ctotally agree\u201d with the judge.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood on you, Manu,\u201d one person wrote, while another added, \u201cManu knows what he’s talking about\u201d.<\/p>\n

However, others thought that Michael \u201cdefinitely has a point\u201d and it\u2019s \u201ccompletely unfair\u201d for the other home cooks in the competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael definitely has a point, cooking a meal you learnt straight from a restaurant is not really fair in a home cooking show,\u201d someone commented, while another replied, \u201cMaybe Tan should\u2019ve signed up for MasterChef instead\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that a restaurant owner was selected for MKR is why I will never watch this season, a different user remarked. \u201cYou have missed the point again Channel 7, it was supposed to be home cooks.\u201d<\/p>\n
