Illnesses continued into early September.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Food Inspection Agency <a href=\"https:\/\/inspection.canada.ca\/en\/inspection-and-enforcement\/food-safety-investigations\/pistachio-recall-salmonella#a3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has issued 26 recalls of pistachios and pistachio-containing products<\/a> since July.<\/p>\n<p>Recalled products suspected of being contaminated by salmonella bacteria include certain brands of pistachio kernels, baklava, ice cream and chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation has focused particularly on Dubai-style chocolate containing pistachios <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11320379\/canada-food-recall-health-notice-salmonella-outbreak\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that has gone viral on social chills, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps and a sudden headache.<\/p>\n<p>Most people get well on their own within a week, but some people \u2014 including seniors, young children, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems \u2014 are at higher risk of serious illness that requires hospitalization.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest reported case was two years old and the oldest was 95.<\/p>\n<p>The bulk of infections have been in Quebec and Ontario, with additional cases in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and New Brunswick.<\/p>\n<p>The agency says 75 per cent of the salmonella cases have been female.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>People infected with salmonella should not cook for others because they can spread the bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>A list of recalled products is on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency\u2019s website. <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11328255\/pistachios-salmonella-recall-heath-advice\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"
