BIRMINGHAM\u00a0\u2013\u00a0UAB women’s soccer (3-2-6, 0-0-3) battled to a 1-1 draw with UTSA (6-2-3, 2-0-1) on Thursday night at PNC Field.<\/p>\n

After a scoreless first half, the Blazers broke through in the 53rd\u00a0minute when Brielle Rochester<\/a>\u00a0netted her second goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Lucero<\/a>.\u00a0The lead was short-lived, however, as UTSA responded 10 minutes later with Ava Jackson’s\u00a0equalizer, set up by Izzy Lane<\/p>\n

Both sides created chances down the stretch, but strong goalkeeping kept the match level. Leah Parsons<\/a>\u00a0recorded six saves for UAB, while UTSA’s\u00a0Jasmine Kessler\u00a0also finished with six.<\/p>\n

The teams were nearly even across the board \u2014 UAB held a 15-16 shot margin, led 10-6 in corners, and split possession almost evenly (51% UTSA, 49% UAB). Defensively, the Blazers kept their composure despite picking up one yellow card, while UTSA saw two players booked.<\/p>\n

Up next, the Blazers hit the road to Charlotte on Thursday, October 2. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.\u00a0<\/p>\n
