Race Day Authentics, which purchased NASCAR<\/a> memorabilia that previously belonged to Martin Truex Jr., released a statement<\/a> Thursday night after the retired driver claimed the items were being sold \u201cwithout my knowledge<\/a>.\u201d The company, located in Cherryville, N.C., said they purchased the items on Tuesday from an individual who worked alongside Truex for 10 years. <\/p>\n

Race Day Authentics purchased the items from that individual \u201cunder the assumption he had been gifted them as he was clearing out his house.\u201d The company was lied to, they claimed. They are working on a plan to get the memorabilia \u201cback to their rightful owner.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs all of our customers and teams we deal with know, we are not the type of people to go out and damage our reputation over something like this. We were lied to by the person we bought them from, and we appreciate everybody being understanding with this matter,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to all of our customers who continue to support us through everything, and we hope to continue to bring you some more exciting stuff soon!\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin Truex Jr. championship trophies were being sold without his knowledge<\/p>\n

It was discovered Wednesday that the items previously belonging to\u00a0Truex\u00a0were being\u00a0listed for sale<\/a>\u00a0on Race Day Authentics.\u00a0Truex wrote on his\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0story Thursday night that these items were being sold without his consent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been brought to my attention some of my trophies were for sale online,\u201d Truex wrote<\/a>. \u201cThese items were sold without my knowledge. Every one of these items holds a special significance to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among\u00a0the\u00a0items that were circulating around<\/a>: Truex\u2019s final win trophy from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, his retirement gift from Toyota TRD, his NASCAR 75 Greatest Drivers watch and shirt, as well as his 2017 and 2023 Cup Series regular season championship trophies. The 2023 regular season championship was listed for almost $2,750.<\/p>\n

Truex, 45, retired from full-time competition after the 2024 season. He had a highly decorated career, winning 34 races across 19 seasons in NASCAR\u2019s premier series, winning a Cup championship in 2017.<\/p>\n
