Glen Powell<\/a> is opening up about cancel culture and how he had an awkward run-in with a \u201ctoxic\u201d celebrity who was recently canceled.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old actor stars in the new Hulu comedy series Chad Powers, which is about a recently canceled athlete.<\/p>\n

Glen appeared on his friend Jake Shane<\/a>\u2018s Therapuss podcast this week and opened up about his run-in with the celeb.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was at a party and there was somebody that had basically been on the ropes in terms of sort of getting canceled\u2026 It was one of those Hollywood parties where it\u2019s like there are cameras and press and all that stuff,\u201d Glen said.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cAnd this person had made a lot of, some of my favorite movies, and I was like, \u2018oh, like, this is great.\u2019 He came up and he said, \u2018nice to meet you\u2019 so I was like, \u2018oh, big fan!\u2019 and then a photographer said, \u2018hey, can we take a picture of the two of you guys?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this person was recently canceled. And it was not good. I was a fan of their work, but not a fan of their choices so I was just kind of being nice. But then when they want to take a picture with you, I realized very quickly how like, I was like, \u2018oh, I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s a good idea.\u2019 He clearly clocked that I was like, \u2018oh, this is probably not a good idea,\u2019\u201d Glen said. \u201cAnd I realized this guy, his face is toxic, you know, like going out to the world. Like people are having a visceral reaction to this person in terms of the bad choices they\u2019ve made.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Glen compared his character Chad Powers to the cancel culture in today\u2019s world. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, you know, the character that I play in Chad, it\u2019s like Russ Holliday is a guy that just made a mistake, right? He\u2019s not a bad guy. Some of these other people that get canceled\u2026 they should lie where they\u2019re shot. But like with Russ, he made a mistake. He acted you know poorly about it and the world kind of didn\u2019t forgive him and he couldn\u2019t forgive himself. And what I found to be really interesting is that in today\u2019s day and age,\u201d Glen said. <\/p>\n
