Hyundai is recalling<\/a> nearly 44,000 vehicles in Canada, warning seatbelts could detach in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.<\/p>\n

The recalled vehicles are all Hyundai Palisades, with the model years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Approximately 43,990 Canadian SUVs are affected, Transport Canada said in an advisory updated Wednesday. <\/p>\n

The recall announcement said some seatbelt buckles in the driver\u2019s, front passenger and second-row outboard seats in certain vehicles \u201cmay not have been manufactured properly,\u201d and may not latch correctly.<\/p>\n

Hyundai recommends drivers and passengers firmly latch their seatbelts and pull on them after latching to ensure that they are secured, until the recall repairs are completed, according to Transport Canada\u2019s recall notice.<\/p>\n

\u201cHyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the seatbelt buckle(s),\u201d the announcement read.<\/p>\n

Earlier in May, Transport Canada announced a recall<\/a> of 117 Hyundai Palisade vehicles from 2025 for an unrelated safety risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cA short circuit can create a fire risk,\u201d the recall announcement said.<\/p>\n

According to the notice, the electric oil pump may not have been manufactured properly in certain vehicles. This could potentially lead to a short circuit due to water entering the electric oil pump controller.<\/p>\n

Customers can contact the manufacturer at 1-888-216-2626 for additional information and check if the seatbelt recall applies to their vehicle here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
