Toronto police say a second suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of eight-year-old JahVai Roy, who was killed by a stray bullet inside his home last month.<\/p>\n

In a news release<\/a>, officials say officers responded to reports of gunfire near Martha Eaton Way and Trethewey Drive at around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 16. Police say Roy was struck inside his residence, rushed to hospital, and later pronounced dead. <\/p>\n

The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.<\/p>\n

Investigators previously identified three suspects and announced one arrest. <\/p>\n

Following back-to-back judicial authorizations police now reveal a second suspect was taken into custody on Thursday after a search warrant was executed in London, Ont. <\/p>\n

The accused, who can no longer be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with first-degree murder. Officials say he appeared in court earlier today at 10 a.m. <\/p>\n

When asked why all three suspects face first-degree murder charges, at the time, Det.-Sgt. Jason Davis explained investigators believe the shooting was a \u201cplanned and premeditated act\u201d even though \u201cthe victim may not have been the intended target.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, a third suspect remains outstanding and officials are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.<\/p>\n
