\n\tAcademy Award winner Aaron Sorkin<\/a>\u2019s follow-up to \u201cThe Social Network,\u201d<\/a> now officially titled \u201cThe Social Reckoning,\u201d will hit theaters on Oct. 9, 2026, Sony Pictures announced Friday.<\/p>\n

\n\tOscar winner Mikey Madison<\/a> (\u201cAnora,\u201d \u201cOnce Upon a Time\u2026in Hollywood\u201d), Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Jeremy Allen White (\u201cThe Bear,\u201d upcoming \u201cSpringsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere\u201d), Emmy and Grammy nominee Bill Burr (\u201cOld Dads,\u201d \u201cThe King of Staten Island\u201d) and Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong (\u201cThe Apprentice,\u201d \u201cSuccession\u201d) will star in \u201cThe Social Reckoning,\u201d with Strong confirmed to play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Social Reckoning\u201d is written and directed by Sorkin, who also produces alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser. Production is expected to begin next month.<\/p>\n

\n\tDescribed as a \u201ccompanion piece\u201d to \u201cThe Social Network<\/a>,\u201d the new film focuses on events that take place nearly two decades after the boy-genius programmer and a troupe of tech pioneers invented what would go on to become the world\u2019s largest social media platform. \u201cThe Social Reckoning\u201d tells the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network\u2019s most guarded secrets.<\/p>\n

\n\tHorwitz\u2019s reporting, a series of articles known as \u201cThe Facebook Files,\u201d was published in 2021 and exposed Facebook for its harmful effects on teens and its knowing proliferation of misinformation, which contributed to acts of political violence.<\/p>\n

\n\t2010\u2019s \u201cThe Social Network,\u201d also released in October, was a critical and commercial hit, earning $226 million at the global box office and receiving eight Academy Award nominations, including best picture.
