The New York Yankees don’t waste any time.<\/p>\n

Giancarlo Stanton is the latest example. On Friday night, Stanton crushed a first-inning home run for a quick lead, and in the process, made MLB history.<\/p>\n

The Yankees have now hit 48 home runs in the first inning of games this season. That’s more than any team, ever, according to NY Yankees Stats<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That’s been led by Aaron Judge, who has set the record for most first-inning homers by an individual.<\/p>\n

It’s a pretty cool stat, to be sure.<\/p>\n

The Yankees have 267 home runs as a team this season after the Stanton blast.<\/p>\n

Hitting 48 of those in the first inning is approximately 18%. If they hit homers in each inning evenly, it’d be more like 11%.<\/p>\n

Now to be fair, the best hitters usually bat in the first inning (including Judge and his 51 homers). So that helps raise this average.<\/p>\n

The Yankees will get two more nights to try to raise this number, too. They won’t see a ton of opposition from Orioles pitching.<\/p>\n

New York is still trying to win the AL East Division, so these tone-setting swings definitely count.<\/p>\n

Don’t bet against the Yankees adding to this record before the regular season ends.<\/p>\n
