Pet parents’ main job is to keep their animals happy and healthy, but giving them a fulfilling and well-rounded life isn’t far behind. That can mean taking a cat outdoors on a leash or bringing your dogs on a road trip<\/a>, but for equestrian Brooke, AKA @cuttinoutwest, that means introducing her horses to new friends, including zebras.<\/p>\n

Normally, Cool lives up to his name, but this hilarious horse had the most unforgettable reaction when he met his mom’s new zebra for the first time. There’s never a dull moment on this Arizona ranch, and this priceless introduction is no different!<\/p>\n

LOL\u2014Cool doesn’t know what to do! He looks like he’s experiencing every emotion at once, but ultimately, the panic won over. This horse was totally spooked<\/a>!<\/p>\n

If a horse could gasp or clutch their pearls, this is precisely what it would look like. Brooke must’ve gotten a kick out of this unforgettable reaction, but it must be a relief to see these two animals getting along eventually, too.<\/p>\n

The horse’s priceless reaction<\/a> reminded viewers of one of 2023’s most viral moments: an airline passenger’s meltdown before takeoff. One commenter wrote, “I’m telling you right now. That MF back there is not real. \u2014 Cool, probably.”<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what he’s thinking! To Cool, the beautiful zebra must look like a horse in a scary costume, so I can see why he would be so panic-inducing.<\/p>\n

Zebras: A Horses’ Uncanny Valley<\/p>\n

“Horses experience the uncanny valley when it comes to ponies, miniature horses<\/a>, donkeys, and apparently zebras too,” @jenleelinn commented. That’s the perfect explanation!<\/p>\n

The uncanny valley refers to the phenomenon where people feel uneasy when looking at ‘human-like’ features. Robots and animations are the most common sources of this unpleasant feeling, but perhaps this is what happens when horses look at zebras, too.<\/p>\n
