Linked with a whole host of potential opponents for his return to the ring, a rather left-field pairing could be on the cards for Deontay Wilder next.<\/p>\n

Out of action since snapping his two-fight losing skid earlier this summer, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder<\/a> turned back the years with a knockout of Tyrrell Anthony Herndon.<\/p>\n

And with matchups against the likes of both fellow former world champion Anthony Joshua<\/a>, as well as ex-Octagon star Francis Ngannou<\/a>, mooted, Wilder may have a third option on the table.<\/p>\n

Gunning for a fight with Bati\u00e9 knockout star, Wilder has been suggested as a foe for a veteran who has sparred the best of the best at heavyweight.<\/p>\n

Returning to the ring in just weeks\u2019 time, British veteran Dave Allen faces a massive threat to his recent surge in the form of knockout star Arslan Makhmudov. <\/p>\n

And rebounding from a controversial loss to Johnny Fisher with a staggering knockout win over the former in an immediate rematch, Allen finds himself on the cusp of another high-profile clash.<\/p>\n

Sharing the ring with the likes of undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> in the past during sparring, Allen also trained alongside Tyson Fury<\/a>, who twice beat Wilder.<\/p>\n

With a victory over the dominant Makhmudov, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn<\/a> has suggested Allen should be lined up opposite Tuscaloosa boogeyman Wilder.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Dave Allen beats (Arslan) Makhmudov, he puts himself in line for some huge fights,\u201d Hearn said on the Matchroom Boxing Flash Knockdown podcast. <\/p>\n

\u201cI like the Deontay Wilder fight, personally,\u201d Hearn explained. \u201cWe\u2019ve reached out to Shelly Finkel (Wilder\u2019s manager) to talk about that, but let\u2019s see what happens on October 11. [against Makhmudov] first.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dave Allen\u2019s common foe with Deontay Wilder<\/p>\n

Yet to win a championship fight since his rematch win over Luis Ortiz back in 2019, Wilder would score a seventh round knockout win over the Cuban veteran.<\/p>\n

And twice defeating the recent resurging heavyweight star, Wilder had previously stopped Ortiz with a tenth round finish before his first clash with Fury.<\/p>\n
